Big Brother Shows Up for the Sens
Ottawa Senators fans have plenty of reasons to feel good about this playoff run, and Game 2 in Raleigh just added a wholesome subplot to the mix. Matthew Tkachuk, captain of the Florida Panthers and Brady's older brother, was spotted in the stands at Lenovo Center to cheer on the Senators — and he didn't come alone.
Matthew made the trip with his parents, Keith and Chantal Tkachuk, turning the arena into something of a Tkachuk family affair. Keith, a former NHL power forward himself, knows a thing or two about playoff hockey — and watching his son Brady lead Ottawa deep into the postseason is clearly a must-see event.
A Family Affair in Carolina
The Tkachuk family has long been one of hockey's most recognizable dynasties. Keith played 18 NHL seasons, and now both of his sons are captains of their respective franchises. Seeing the whole family rally behind Brady and the Sens is the kind of feel-good story that cuts through the noise of a tense playoff series.
For Ottawa fans, the optics couldn't be better. Brady Tkachuk has grown into the heart and soul of this Senators squad — a physical, emotional leader who wears the 'C' like it was made for him. Having his family court-side (or rather, rink-side) in enemy territory sends a clear message: the Tkachuks travel together.
What It Means for Ottawa
Back home, Ottawa is buzzing. The Senators haven't been in the playoffs for years, and the energy around this run has been building fast. Canadian Tire Centre watch parties, bars packed on game nights, and a fanbase that's been hungry for meaningful hockey in April — this is what the city has been waiting for.
Brady Tkachuk has been the engine of that revival. His physicality, leadership, and willingness to sacrifice his body in front of the net has made him the quintessential Ottawa sports hero. And when his brother flies in on his own time just to be in the building — that speaks to the kind of family culture Brady brings to the locker room too.
Eyes on the Series
The Senators and Hurricanes are locked in what promises to be a gritty, physical series. Raleigh is never an easy building to play in, and the Hurricanes are battle-tested. But Ottawa has shown it can compete at this level, and with the right support — from teammates, the city back home, and apparently the entire Tkachuk family — anything is possible.
Whether or not Matthew's presence gave Brady an extra boost, it made for one of the better storylines of these playoffs. Ottawa may be the underdog in this series, but the Sens have heart — and apparently, great family values too.
