Ottawa's Best Local Food Heads to the Ballpark
The Ottawa Titans are doubling down on their commitment to local business with two exciting new concession partners for the 2026 season: Junior & The Kid Wood Fire Barbecue out of Rockland, and Ottawa-based Roost Express, a chicken restaurant that's already been winning over fans from a food truck.
The additions, reported by the Ottawa Business Journal, reflect the Titans' broader philosophy: a professional sports team that's deeply rooted in the community, right down to what's being served at the concession stand.
Familiar Faces, New Homes
Both Junior & The Kid and Roost Express are not strangers to Ottawa Titans fans. Both vendors had previously served fans from food trucks at the stadium, making them a natural fit for a more permanent partnership. General Manager Martin Boyce explained the team's thinking clearly: rather than setting up generic food operations in-house, the Titans are partnering with businesses that already have loyal followings and proven products.
"Instead of operating our own fried chicken spot by buying fryers, let's go find someone already doing that with their own customers," Boyce said. It's a smart approach, and one that keeps dollars flowing to local Ottawa-area operators.
Also joining the 2026 lineup is Craig's Cookies, a Toronto-based cookie brand, rounding out a diverse and appealing food offering for fans.
The Food Is Part of the Experience
Boyce was candid about the role food plays in the Titans' overall game-day experience: "Some people come for the baseball, some for family-friendly fun and some just for the food." With Junior & The Kid's wood-fire barbecue and Roost Express's fried chicken on offer, the food argument for heading to the stadium just got a lot more compelling.
The team is also transitioning to cashless payment systems and expanding point-of-sale technology across the venue, making the experience smoother for everyone.
Community at the Core
The Titans' existing concession partners already read like a who's who of Ottawa craft beverage: Beyond the Pale Brewing Company, Stray Dog Brewing Company, Vimy Brewing Company, and Lois 'N' Frima ice cream. Adding Junior & The Kid and Roost Express continues that tradition of prioritizing local.
"Everything is about community," Boyce said. "We're a professional sports team but at the end of the day, we're community-based."
On the naming rights front, the team is still searching for the right partner, but Boyce expressed confidence that the right fit is coming. For Ottawa baseball fans, the 2026 season is shaping up to be a great one, both on and off the field.
