Ferrari Goes Electric With the Luce

After months of carefully orchestrated teasers, Ferrari has finally pulled back the curtain on the Luce — its first fully electric vehicle, and arguably one of the most anticipated EV debuts in automotive history.

The Luce isn't just a milestone for Ferrari. It's a statement. And with Jony Ive and Marc Newson's fingerprints all over it, the car is already generating as much conversation in design circles as it is among supercar enthusiasts.

Who Designed It?

Jony Ive — the British designer behind the iMac, iPod, and iPhone during his legendary tenure at Apple — and Australian industrial designer Marc Newson collaborated on the project through their creative studio, LoveFrom.

Ferrari has confirmed that LoveFrom wasn't brought in just to polish the interior. The duo was given the opportunity to "define the design direction of the project from the outset" — meaning their influence runs from the dashboard all the way to the bodywork. Earlier this year, Ferrari had previewed the interior, which already drew wide praise for its clean, almost sculptural approach to luxury. Now the full exterior has been revealed, showing a car that feels distinctly Ferrari while carrying unmistakable traces of Ive's minimalist sensibility.

A New Kind of Ferrari

The Luce is notable for several reasons beyond its powertrain. It's only the second four-door car Ferrari has ever made — and its first five-seater. That makes it a genuine family car by Ferrari standards, though presumably not the kind you'd use for a school run.

Performance figures haven't been fully disclosed, but given Ferrari's engineering pedigree and the all-electric platform, expectations are sky-high. What has been confirmed is the starting price: €550,000 in Italy. US pricing hasn't been announced yet, though it's expected to be positioned at the very top of the luxury EV market — well above competitors like the Porsche Taycan Turbo S or the Rimac Nevera.

The Bigger Picture

The Luce arrives at a moment when legacy automakers are under enormous pressure to electrify their lineups without diluting their brand identity. Ferrari has taken the opposite approach to most — rather than rushing a product to market, it spent years developing a car that feels worthy of the prancing horse badge.

By partnering with LoveFrom, Ferrari signalled something important: that the Luce wasn't going to be an EV dressed up as a Ferrari. It was going to be a Ferrari that happened to be electric.

Whether the Luce lives up to that promise remains to be seen when first drives begin. But on looks alone — and with that price tag — it's already one of the most talked-about cars of 2026.
