Google has pulled back the curtain on Googlebook, a new lineup of laptops that the company says are the first computers designed from the ground up with artificial intelligence at their core. Set to launch this fall, Googlebooks are built to run Gemini — Google's flagship AI model — as a deeply integrated, always-available assistant rather than a bolt-on feature.
The announcement signals Google's most serious hardware push yet into the laptop space, and it comes at a moment when every major tech company is racing to define what AI-native personal computing actually looks like.
What Makes a Laptop "AI-Native"?
The buzzword of the moment is "AI-native," and Google is leaning into it hard. Unlike existing laptops that run AI tools as apps or browser extensions, Googlebooks are engineered so that Gemini Intelligence runs at the system level — proactively offering help, anticipating tasks, and integrating with everything from your calendar to your camera roll.
