Logitech Brings Its Stream Deck Rival Into the Office
Logitech has announced a major expansion for its MX line of accessories, rolling out a new suite of Productivity Plugins that bring hands-on control to the apps most office workers live in every day. The headline addition: Microsoft Office apps — Word, Excel, and PowerPoint — are now natively supported, alongside popular workplace tools Slack and Notion.
The update is particularly significant for the MX Creative Console, Logitech's answer to Elgato's Stream Deck, which launched in September 2024. Until now, the console leaned heavily toward creative professionals, with plug-in support for apps like Final Cut Pro, Adobe Lightroom, and Figma. That creative-first focus made it a natural fit for designers and video editors, but left a lot of desk-bound knowledge workers on the sidelines.
How the Productivity Plugins Work
At the core of the new plugins is Logitech's Actions Ring system — circular, contextual menus that surface shortcuts, tools, and commands specific to whatever app is active on screen. When you're in Excel, the console can surface formatting tools, formula shortcuts, or navigation commands. Switch to PowerPoint, and the layout shifts to presentation-specific controls. Jump into Slack, and you've got quick access to channels, reactions, or message actions.
The idea is reducing the friction of constantly reaching for the keyboard or hunting through menus. For power users who live in these apps for eight or more hours a day, even shaving a few seconds off repetitive tasks adds up fast.
The Productivity Plugins aren't limited to the MX Creative Console — Logitech says the full MX accessory lineup is supported, which includes mice and keyboards in the MX Master and MX Keys families.
A Bigger Bet on the Physical Workspace
The move signals that Logitech sees real opportunity in bridging the gap between physical peripherals and software workflows, especially as remote and hybrid work have normalized highly personalized desk setups. The professional peripheral market has grown increasingly competitive, with Elgato's Stream Deck lineup dominant among streamers and creatives, and newer entrants like the MX Creative Console trying to carve out space in the broader productivity segment.
By expanding beyond creative tools into mainstream productivity suites, Logitech is positioning the MX ecosystem less as a niche gadget and more as an essential layer of a professional workstation — regardless of whether you're editing video or building quarterly forecasts.
What's Next
Logitech hasn't announced pricing changes alongside the plugin update — the MX Creative Console remains available at its existing retail price. The new Productivity Plugins are available through Logitech's Options+ software, which manages the full MX ecosystem.
For professionals who already own MX accessories and have been waiting for tighter integration with their daily apps, this update delivers that without requiring any new hardware. For anyone who's been eyeing the Creative Console but found the app support too creatively focused, this may finally tip the scales.
