A pricier foldable north of the border
Apple's new foldable iPhone Duo is retailing for $2,999 before tax in Canada, the starting price for the base model. In the United States, the same phone starts at $1,999 US, which converts to roughly $2,760 Canadian.
That leaves Canadians paying almost 10 per cent more for the entry-level version, even after accounting for the exchange rate. CBC Business reports the price gap is not tied to tariffs.
Apple has not detailed exactly what does account for the difference. Canadians weighing whether to import the phone from the US will want to factor in that gap before ordering.
