Corrections Policy
How to report an error in an ottown story, and what we do when we get something wrong.
How to report an error
Use the form on our collaborate page and choose Content Concern or Correction. Include the link to the article, what is wrong, and a source for the correct information if you have one. You can also send us a direct message on Instagram at @ottownca.
We reply to messages within two to three business days, and aim to handle urgent corrections the same day.
What we do
- Minor errors, such as a typo or a misspelled name, are fixed in place.
- Factual errors are corrected, and the article shows an updated date.
- Stories we cannot verify, or that misrepresent their source, are removed.
- Event details (times, prices, venues) come from the organizer. If they change, we update the listing when our sources do; tell us if a listing looks wrong.
Concerns about coverage
If you are named in a story and believe it is unfair or inaccurate, or you are a business on one of our best-of lists and something is out of date, use the same form. We review every request against the original source.
