Ottawa-area residents who regularly drive Eastern Ontario's rural highways toward Cornwall are absorbing news of a fatal three-vehicle collision that killed three people Thursday night in South Glengarry Township, southeast of Ottawa.
What happened
Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to reports of a three-vehicle collision on County Road 17 near County Road 27 in South Glengarry Township just after 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Who died
OPP identified the three people killed as a 61-year-old driver from South Glengarry, a 54-year-old passenger also from South Glengarry, and an 18-year-old driver from North Glengarry. No further details about the circumstances that led to the collision have been released.
Road closures and investigation
SD&G OPP say the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and they are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage relevant to the incident to call 1-888-310-1122.
What led here
This is the latest in a string of serious crashes on the rural highways east of Ottawa this year.
