What happened
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, a white SUV travelling north on Battersea Road collided head-on with a black SUV travelling south, in what police describe as an offset front-end collision.
The 37-year-old driver of the southbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers riding in that same vehicle were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 40-year-old driver of the northbound vehicle was also transported to hospital, where they remain in serious, life-threatening condition.
Police looking for a witness
Investigators are trying to identify the driver of a small black hatchback that was travelling north on Battersea Road near the crash at the time it happened. Police have not said what, if anything, that driver may have seen, only that they want to speak with them.
Anyone with information, including that driver, is asked to contact Detective Cerutti or Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0. The cause of the collision remains under investigation, and police have not released the names of anyone involved.
