Two eastern Ontario firms join MNP
Ottawa is home to one of two Baker Tilly member firms that officially joined national professional services firm MNP on September 21, 2026, as part of a pair of acquisitions across eastern Ontario. The firms' 25 partners and 200 team members joined MNP effective that date.
The acquired firms operated offices across the region, including in Ottawa, Gatineau, Carleton Place, Cobden, Kemptville, Morrisburg, Pembroke and Winchester, giving MNP a considerably wider footprint across the capital and the smaller communities that surround it.
More than 50 years serving local businesses
Both firms had provided accounting, tax and advisory services to private enterprise organizations for more than 50 years before joining MNP.
Jared Bourne, MNP's executive vice-president for Ontario outside the Greater Toronto Area, said the newly merged teams bring exactly that kind of local insight to the table. "Like our existing team across Eastern Ontario, they have a deep understanding of the region's business community," Bourne said.
What partners are saying
Partner Michael Hayward said the merger strengthens the firm's offerings for clients going forward. "They strengthen our current service offerings and bring additional technology," Hayward said.

A growing national firm
MNP now counts more than 700 partners across Canada. Founded in 1958, the firm has grown to more than 150 locations nationwide, offering a wide range of services and specialized expertise across every sector of business.
MNP CEO Jason Tuffs said the moves reflect the company's ongoing growth in this part of the country. "We are thrilled to once again be expanding our presence in Ontario and Quebec with these significant strategic mergers," Tuffs said.
What it means for Ottawa
For Ottawa business owners, the merger means the accounting and advisory firm that may have handled their books for decades is now part of a much larger national network, one with resources in technology and specialized advisory services that a smaller regional firm couldn't offer on its own. Clients in Gatineau, Carleton Place, Kemptville, Cobden, Morrisburg, Pembroke and Winchester will see the same shift in ownership, even if their day-to-day contacts stay the same.
It's the latest sign of consolidation in the professional services industry, as smaller regional accounting firms increasingly join national players to compete on technology and specialized expertise, even as they try to preserve the local relationships that built their client base in Ottawa and the surrounding region in the first place. With 25 partners and more than 200 staff now under the MNP banner locally, the firm's presence in the capital region has grown substantially overnight.
