Ottawa's hospitality sector is saying goodbye to one of its longest-serving hotel leaders. Ross Meredith, general manager of both The Westin Ottawa and Delta Ottawa City Centre, is retiring on November 1, 2026, stepping away after more than a decade running The Westin Ottawa alone.

"Watching people grow and their success has been my most fond memory of my career for the last 30 years," he said.
Taking On a Second Hotel Mid-Pandemic
Meredith's role expanded in October 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, when he took on a dual assignment as GM of the Delta Ottawa City Centre as well as The Westin.
The two hotels are no small operation. Together, The Westin Ottawa and Delta Ottawa City Centre are two of the city's four largest hotels, with a combined 902 guest rooms, 47 meeting rooms and 73,000 square feet of meeting space. Both are managed by Marriott International, and both are currently in the middle of major guest room renovations, meaning Meredith's successors will inherit properties mid-upgrade.
Career Before Ottawa
Meredith's path to Ottawa ran through the Westin brand's other North American properties. He joined Westin in 2007 and spent three years as general manager of The Westin Calgary. In 2011, he moved to California to take the same role at The Westin Mission Hills Resort in Rancho Mirage, before arriving in Ottawa in 2014.
What Happens Next
With Meredith's departure, the dual general manager arrangement he held since 2020 will be split again. New GMs for each hotel are expected to be announced shortly, according to the hotels, though no names or timeline beyond that have been released yet.
For downtown Ottawa, the change lands at a notable moment. Whoever takes over will be stepping into two of Ottawa's most visible hospitality jobs just as the properties finish freshening up their guest rooms.
