A Possible New Life for the Brampton Plant

Stellantis has signed a memorandum of understanding with Roshel, a Canadian armoured vehicle manufacturer, exploring a potential sale of its idled Brampton, Ontario assembly plant.

The Brampton facility has sat inactive as Stellantis shifted production elsewhere, a move that drew criticism from Unifor and concern from workers left without jobs. A sale to Roshel would mark a significant shift for the site, moving it from mainstream auto assembly into specialized armoured vehicle manufacturing.

What's Not Yet Known

A memorandum of understanding is not a finalized deal, so terms, timeline, and job numbers have not been announced. It is also unclear how many former Stellantis workers, if any, would be retained under Roshel.
