What happened
Mason Jenkins, 49, did not show up for the 11:15 a.m. count at his minimum-security unit at Collins Bay Institution on Thursday, September 24, 2026. The Correctional Service of Canada immediately contacted Kingston Police, and a warrant has been issued for Jenkins's arrest. CSC issued a coordinating press release at approximately 3:32 p.m. the same day as Kingston Police worked to locate him.
Who is Mason Jenkins
Jenkins is serving a life sentence for first-degree murder and possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking. He was convicted in 2001 in the first-degree murder of his sister, a crime committed in 1998.
He is described as a white male, standing about 175 to 179 cm (5'9") tall and weighing around 116 kg (255 to 256 lbs), with a fair complexion, brown eyes, and brown hair that is currently shaved bald. He was last seen wearing a light green jacket, blue jeans and rubber boots.

Police are asking the public not to approach Jenkins if spotted. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately. Anyone with information about his whereabouts can contact Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. 0.
