Ottawa is getting a new direct flight to London, Ont., with Porter Airlines announcing that it will connect the two cities starting April 12, 2027. The route is part of a broader expansion by the airline at London International Airport (YXU), with new domestic routes set to launch in spring 2027.

What Porter has announced for Ottawa

Porter will fly between Ottawa and London on Dash 8-400 aircraft. Service begins April 12, 2027, and the airline says it will operate up to 20 times weekly at peak frequency. "Peak frequency" is the airline's own wording for its busiest schedule, so the number of weekly flights may be lower at other times of year.

The announcement does not include fares, departure times or the dates on which tickets go on sale. Those details have not been announced in the material available so far, so anyone planning a trip should watch Porter's own channels for booking information.

Halifax joins the London lineup

Ottawa is not the only destination in the announcement. Porter will also fly from London to Halifax starting April 12, 2027, the same day as the Ottawa service. That route will use E195-E2 aircraft and run up to seven times weekly at peak frequency.

The details we have cover only the Ottawa and Halifax routes. We do not have the schedules or aircraft for the other new London routes, so we are not describing them here.

What Porter says about London

Porter president Kevin Jackson framed the move as a commitment to the city. "This expansion demonstrates that Porter is committed to making London a meaningful part of our network," he said.

Jackson also pointed to what the new routes mean for the wider region. "Travellers across Southwestern Ontario will have convenient access to popular cities from coast to coast, combined with the elevated, passenger-first experience Porter is known for," he said. According to the announcement, over two million residents in the region will have convenient travel options from their local airport.

What it means for Ottawa

It also works in the other direction: travellers from London and the surrounding region will have a direct way to reach the capital. Whether the route is aimed mainly at business, family visits or leisure travel was not spelled out in the announcement.

Part of a bigger Porter presence in Ottawa

The news comes as Porter keeps building its presence at the capital's airport. As ottown's earlier report noted last month, Porter now flies to 23 destinations from Ottawa's airport (YOW) and is adding more this winter. That coverage also described a local maintenance base employing nearly 120 people and an expanded partnership with Algonquin College.

What we still don't know

We will update this story if Porter releases more information about the Ottawa to London service.
