What police say happened
Officers responded to a call about the assault on Jean-Dallaire Street at about 2 p.m. on Oct. 8. Police said the assault reportedly followed an altercation between two individuals.
When officers arrived, they located a victim with injuries caused by an edged weapon. The 16-year-old male suspect was arrested near the scene, and a police perimeter was set up in the area for investigators.
The victim
Paramedics attended to the victim before the person was taken to hospital, according to TVA Gatineau. Police said the injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Le Droit reported that the victim's age has not been disclosed.
What happens next
The teen is to be met by investigators, TVA Gatineau reported. As of late Thursday afternoon, no charges had been filed, according to Le Droit.
The reports available so far do not say what the altercation was about, what kind of edged weapon was involved, or whether the two people knew each other.
Earlier this fall
This is a separate case from one on the Ottawa side of the river. In late September, Ottawa police were investigating after a teenager was seriously injured in a stabbing near St. Laurent Boulevard on a Saturday evening, as covered in ottown's earlier report. No reporting links the two incidents.
