Ottawa has its first Frontier League champion. The Ottawa Titans defeated the Evansville Otters 4-0 in Game Four of the 2026 Frontier League Finals on Saturday, September 26, clinching the first championship in franchise history.

A dominant clincher

Pitcher Ky Hampton was the story of the night, retiring the first 16 batters he faced and tossing eight scoreless innings. He allowed just three hits and struck out seven, a performance that earned him Frontier League Playoff MVP honours. Across the full playoff run, Hampton logged 15 innings pitched, allowing just one earned run on nine hits, one walk and 12 strikeouts.

At the plate, Jackie Urbaez went 2-for-4 with an RBI and AJ Wright went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the clinching win, giving the Titans enough offence to back up Hampton's night on the mound.

A record crowd two nights running

The championship run wasn't just a story on the field. Titans general manager Martin Boyce said the energy inside the ballpark for the title-clinching game was something else entirely, with the crowd chanting and on its feet by the top of the ninth inning.

Boyce said the run could pay off well beyond the win column. He said the championship might help the club reach sponsors who weren't previously on its radar, and that existing sponsors have already given positive feedback on how engaged the fanbase has become. Drawing more than 10,000 fans on back-to-back nights, he said, points to long-term potential for the franchise, including possible improvements to the ballpark itself.

The numbers back up that optimism. The Titans' regular-season attendance grew 17.5 percent year-over-year, and the four playoff games alone drew roughly 32,000 fans combined. The club's charitable arm, the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation, has raised nearly $100,000 in 2026.

The road here

The title capped a season that built steadily toward this moment. The Titans swept the New Jersey Jackals in the Atlantic Conference Wild Card Series earlier this month, then took a 2-1 series lead over Evansville in front of that record-setting Ottawa Stadium crowd before closing out the championship in Game Four. Along the way, the club marked Ottawa's 200th birthday with a gesture of its own. One more change is coming for the league itself: the Frontier League will rebrand to the National Association of Professional Baseball starting with the 2027 season, meaning the Titans will defend their title under a new league name.
