Ottawa is well represented on the 2026 CBC Nonfiction Prize longlist, with four local writers named among the 30 entries chosen from across Canada.
What's at Stake
The eventual winner takes home $6,000, a writing residency, and publication of their work on CBC Books, one of the country's most watched platforms for emerging literary talent.
What's Next
CBC will trim the list to a shortlist on September 17, with the winner revealed just five days later on September 22. For Ottawa's literary community, having four names still in the running heading into that cut is a solid showing worth watching.
