How this page was put together
ottown has not interviewed Ahmed Rashid and could not confirm anything about their campaign against the two independent public sources we require, so this page carries no claims about them beyond the City of Ottawa's own certified record above. That is a limit of our research, not a judgement about the candidate.
ottown's research note: Could not produce verifiable facts meeting the two-source, exact-quote bar. Search results consistently confirm an 'Ahmed Rashid' is a certified candidate for Ottawa City Councillor, Ward 10 (Gloucester-Southgate), in the October 26, 2026 election, alongside Jessica Bradley, Donna Dickson, Ayub Omar, and John Redins (CBC and CTV both cover this race). However, the full text of the CBC article (cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/gloucester-southgate-ward-election-city-ottawa-2026-9.7312521) returned HTTP 403 on every fetch attempt, and the CTV articles (ctvnews.ca video and 'meet the candidates' piece) returned only navigation/header content with no article body, so no exact sentence could be quoted from either source as required. A search-engine paraphrase suggested he is described as a 'former legal assistant' who had not filed a campaign website with the city's elections office as of August 2026, but this is a search summary, not a verified quote from the source page, so it was dropped per the rules. No campaign website, social account, or City of Ottawa candidate page could be reached to independently corroborate anything beyond bare candidacy. 'Ahmed Rashid' is also a common name (a Pakistani journalist, various unrelated public/academic profiles surfaced in searches), so any fact would need extra care to confirm it is the Ward 10 candidate specifically. Given the inability to quote a supporting source, an empty facts array is the correct answer here rather than reporting an unverifiable claim.
Every candidate in this race was invited to answer the same questions on the same terms, at no charge, and that invitation stands. If you are Ahmed Rashid and want this page to say more, that is the way to do it.
It is not an endorsement, a ranking, or a complete account of the candidate or their platform. For the ballot itself, the City of Ottawa's certified list is the authority, not this page. Ottawa votes on Monday, October 26, 2026. Last checked 2026-09-28.
