Riley Brockington is the incumbent City Councillor for River Ward (Ward 16), first elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018 and 2022. He was re-elected by acclamation in the 2026 municipal election after no challengers filed nomination papers, the first Ottawa council acclamation since 2003. In 2026 he was also acclaimed president of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario for a 2026-2028 term. Before council, he was a Statistics Canada economist and an Ottawa-Carleton District School Board trustee.
