Ottawa Senators goaltender Linus Ullmark was listed as injured, with an undisclosed injury, in the team's projected lineup for Tuesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings, a day after he left the Senators' win in Boston before the third period.
What happened in Boston
Ullmark did not play the third period of Ottawa's 4-1 win over the Bruins at TD Garden. Coach Travis Green said the reason was precautionary. According to NHL.com, Green said the goalie "tweaked something" in a second-period collision with Boston forward J.J. Peterka.
Pro Hockey Rumors places the collision toward the tail end of the second period. Defender Thomas Chabot wrapped up Peterka and took him down while Peterka was in full momentum and headed in the direction of Ullmark, who lowered his head after the contact.
Ullmark, 33, had made 10 saves on 10 shots in 40 minutes of ice time before he was pulled as a precaution.
Ersson finishes the job
Samuel Ersson entered to play the final period in relief. He stopped eight of nine shots. The one goal against was a turnover tally by James Hagens, the second NHL goal of Hagens's career. The Senators held on for the win.
What is known about the injury
The lineup listing for the Red Wings game says only "Injured: Linus Ullmark (undisclosed)." Beyond Green's description of a precautionary move and the "tweaked something" comment, the sources reviewed for this story do not say what the injury is, how serious it is, or how long Ullmark might be out.
What led here
The Senators have started the 2026-27 season with two wins, and both came with injury news attached. Ottawa opened the season with a 3-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs, a game that defenceman Jake Sanderson left after only 4:29 of ice time. He was later sent back to Ottawa for further testing and is expected to miss the rest of the season-opening road trip.
Monday's game in Boston, which ottown covered when Amadio and Stutzle led the Senators past the Bruins, moved Ottawa to 2-0-0. Ullmark's status now adds a second name to the injury list within days of the opener.
What it means for Ottawa fans
Any update on Ullmark's condition, and on whether he is expected back soon, has not yet been provided. Fans following the team can expect more detail once the Senators or Green share a diagnosis or timeline.
