Ottawa mayoral incumbent Mark Sutcliffe is promising a community-wide strategy to address mental health and the toxic drug crisis in the city if he is re-elected on Oct. 26, according to CTV News.
CTV News is the only outlet to have reported the promise so far, and fuller details have not been independently confirmed yet. What the strategy would include, how it would be paid for and how it would be rolled out have not been announced in the reporting available to ottown.
What led here
Sutcliffe's platform has already included other pledges. In an Ottawa Citizen op-ed, he set out a plan led by a $95 monthly transit pass and a 2.5 per cent cap on tax increases, along with 650 more supportive housing units, as covered in ottown's earlier report.
