An Ottawa architecture firm is putting its name forward for one of the capital's most closely watched projects: the future of 24 Sussex. Linebox Studio responded to a request for qualifications (RFQ) from Public Services and Procurement Canada, and its founder says the team is now waiting to hear whether it makes the next round.
What Linebox Studio submitted
According to the Ottawa Business Journal, Linebox Studio answered the federal RFQ for the project.
Reeves described the thinking behind the firm's approach in simple terms: "What we're trying to do is represent all the provinces and territories, what Canada is now and what it was." He also framed the residence as something larger than a single occupant's address. "This is Canada's home, not the prime minister's home," he said.
What the RFQ asks of a team
The RFQ sets out experience requirements that shape who can compete. It requires that someone on the team has experience being part of a $35-million high-security facility project. The builder, meanwhile, has to have been part of a $50-million complex building project.
